Some of our questions were:

• Who will have access to the hour-to-hour monitoring of energy use in our homes?

and more

and more

• How is the city addressing privacy issues?

• What control will the government have on the temperature in our homes with smart meters?

• Why will Smart Grid meters be involuntarily placed on our homes?

• Why the $11 million cost now, when Naperville is running a deficit of $11 million?

• Why not just monitor sub-stations instead of individual homes?

Is it good to be an early adopter in this case?

Council to Vote on $460,000 for Smart Grid PR

If you're still unsure of how you feel about the Smart Grid, the city is hoping to hire someone who will win you over.

The Naperville City Council will consider hiring on a Smart Grid public relations consultant at its meeting Tuesday night, for about $460,000.

Under the three-year contract, to be awarded to Jasculca-Terman, the consultant would provide a communication plan, a customer privacy and advocacy handbook, logos and branding for the Naperville Smart Grid Initiative, and would generally handle public relations for the project.
